Literature

Despair. Hope. Fear. Joy. Worry.
we are a pendulum of emotions.

At times, we cover these intense feelings with a cheerful countenance or a hearty laugh. No one really wants a deep dive into our fears or sorrows, do they?

Or is it quite possible that when we open these unexamined feelings, we uncover the very words that help others relate to us?

Poetry, my favorite form of literature, breathes purpose, even clarity into emotions. We don’t grow by silencing or spotlighting them but by giving them their rightful place on the shelf of everyday life. Emotions reveal fears, unlock hopes, allow grief, and fuel raw prayers. These feelings can be tricky to capture, but then again, maybe that’s exactly why we have the gift of poetry.
